The following might come as a shock to some.
I know. There are many aspects of my life that fall under the “flying by the seat of my pants” banner. It used to seem counter-intuitive to my nature. Now I know it’s just a healthy balance of all that is me.
A balance to what, you may ask. I’m actually a planner, an administrator, by nature.
Some of you are laughing right now. I hear you. Spur of the moment this. Adventure that. Pop up activity there. Impromptu event here. Total writer plantser (mostly a pantser with a little planning). And some of you don’t even know my cross-country move story (which actually had more planning in it than implied).
Others of you just read that last bit and maybe thought – What? I’ve been to her events. I’ve seen her organization. She is absolutely a planner! Those of you in that camp – thank you. 😊
After my husband died, planning and I had a serious falling out. An event? A vacation? Shucks, dinner. Nope. My brain could not deal – for a few years. And then I found myself planning for an event that was months or even a year away. I started catching glimpses of “future” things, and it felt so nice. Familiar. Homey. Plans and I were starting to reconcile; to build a new relationship.
We’re still working on fine tuning the planning aspect of my life, but it’s been nice to find that new balance. And a balance it should be, because I find the random, impromptu, spur-of-the-moment adventure so freeing and gratifying and joyful. And I’m loving discovering my adventure buddies.
But the Planner in me has been shockingly tasked with a doozie of a plan. An event the size of which I have never taken on before, nor did I ever expect God to call me to coordinate. Yet I am delighted, excited, and filled with hopeful trepidation all at once.
The ironic thing about this event is how much toxicity and hate is already being spewed my direction – for the mere suggestion of it. (Don’t tell anyone, but I actually find it hysterical! And sad.) But God has shown up so clearly in the preliminary planning stages and I am eager to run and fly with this.
Field of Dreams has always been one of my favorite movies. “If you build it, they will come.” The faith of that statement is transformational. Well, this time it’s, “If you plan it, they will come.” At least that is the prayer and the initial implication. So, here I go, diving full on into the planning for the

(CROSS Book Fest)
The initial response has been amazing on the preliminary interest form. I am humbled and so very excited for what it appears God may intend to do. There are SO MANY details to dive into, but I’m stepping out in faith that this is the path He wants me on. Now, this wasn’t supposed to be an “author me” promotional post, but as I get to this point of writing, if you are interested in more details, follow along somewhere here for all the news and details as they come available. And thank you.
In the meantime, I would welcome any prayers for the planning, the contacts, and the reach. For protection against the negative. For His favor on all the things. That if I plan it, they will indeed come.
Putting on my planning hat. Planning Powers – Ignite!
Now I’m going to go figure out what I should do today. 🤣
